Farwa is a bilingual speech-language pathologist with a passion for working with children of all abilities. After earning her master’s degree from the prestigious Columbia University, Teachers College, she has gained over 13 years of clinical experience in early intervention, public education, pediatric and adult medical inpatient facilities, sub-acute care, and private therapy clinics. 

 

Farwa founded One-on-One Speech Therapy out of her desire to provide the highest quality speech and language therapy to families in her community, by considering each child holistically. Her sensory-driven and play-based therapy approaches help children unlock their optimal level of learning and grow into their most authentic selves. This method has been nationally recognized as Farwa was awarded Clinician of the Year by the National Black Association for Speech Language and Hearing and recognized  by the American Speech and Hearing Association as an Innovator in the field.

Farwa is trained in a variety of research-based therapy methods. She is a lifelong student and uses her vast knowledge and experience to create a tailored therapy plan for each child that she works with. Farwa also mentors speech language pathologists from around the world on supporting gestalt language processors.

Farwa speaks Urdu, Hindi, and English, and celebrates all languages and cultures! She is devoted to providing therapy services that value and honor each family’s unique lifestyle. She has worked with the Leaders Project at Columbia University to translate evidence-based assessment materials into the Urdu language, and she obtained her Advanced Certificate in Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology from the university upon graduation.

 

Farwa is currently serving as President of Morris County Speech and Hearing Association, a non-profit organization committed to providing exceptional continuing education to speech-language pathologists in New Jersey. She actively maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) by completing professional development courses and has been awarded multiple Award for Continuing Education (ACE) from the American Speech and Hearing Association for her dedication to professional learning. Farwa was even featured in the “Kids’ Favorite Doc” edition of the NJ Family Magazine, for incorporating her clients’ interests, sensory needs, and learning style into her therapy sessions!

 

Farwa is a mother of 3 boys, and she understands the joy and the hardships that come with the blessing of children. She is currently in the process of trying to raise good humans, and empathizes with parents that are in the same season of life. In her free time, Farwa enjoys cooking, crafting, visiting bakeries, and interior design work. She loves exploring new places, cultures, and foods!
